William Halstead Supports the 2026 Mohair Excellence Awards
William Halstead was proud to support the 2026 Mohair Excellence Awards through the donation of premium suiting cloth, recognising the achievements of South Africa’s leading super kid mohair producers.
Organised by Mohair South Africa, the annual awards celebrate the skill, dedication and attention to detail of farmers whose expertise contributes to the production of some of the world’s finest mohair. The competition recognises the commitment required at farm level to consistently achieve exceptional fibre quality and highlights the important role that South African mohair continues to play within the global textile industry.
This year’s competition attracted 21 entries from across South Africa. Following an independent judging process, 10 finalists were selected, with the top five entries recognised during the awards dinner. Each entry was assessed against a range of fibre quality characteristics, including fineness, length, uniformity, clean yield, handle, style and overall appearance.
As part of the awards, William Halstead provided premium suiting cloth for the winners. The overall award was presented to FEC Farming Pty Ltd, with the prize collected on behalf of Fred Colborne by Bobby-Luke Colborne, who received the Mohair Excellence Awards trophy and William Halstead suit length.
